We are starti ng a meal train for the LaFavour family. Please post in the comments which meal you will bring. If you haven’t received a date to deliver a meal from me, let me know. The family has no allergies and said they’re not picky eaters. Also, there should be a plastic bin on the front porch to put your food into. Click on the calendar below to see your date of delivery. Our prayers for Eileen

I wish to begin a prayer for our dear friend Eileen and her family who were in a car accident on November 21st. PLEASE ADD TO THE PRAYER AND KEEP IT GOING UNTIL OUR FRIEND IS HOME SAFE AND SOUND.

Dear Heavenly Father, Please surround Eileen, Darin, Tyler and Leah with your healing love as they recover from this accident. Especially, Dear Lord, surround Eileen with your healing angels to recover fully. Give her the strength and faith within to get through this time. Surround them with our love and bring them home soon so we all can take care of them. We love you Eileen……………….

Keeping it Local

In today’s economy it’s a great idea to help out local business. Shopping locally at family ran businesses keeps our local economy moving. I took my daughter out for dinner the other night. We dined at a locally owned Hawaiian restaurant called Patrick’s Hawaiian Cafe. It was phenomenal! From the moment we walked in until we left we had smiles on our faces. The service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. The owner Patrick made a point of going to each table and interacting with the customers. He made us laugh and feel comfortable. The food was excellent. We ordered a happy hour appetizer of Maui Onion Rings. Lightly battered, sweet onions. yummy! Hannah ordered Kai Bi Ribs and I ordered Teriyaki chicken and Luau pork. Both meals came with choice of salad or soup, macaroni salad or vegetable. We were soo stuffed! As we ate we were serenaded by a man playing a yukalale and singing Hawaiian music. It’s a great find and I hope more people go and enjoy the meals. Prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is casual. Aloha!!

I’m always amazed at the talent around us. Whether it’s the ability to cook a scrumptous meal, plant beautiful flowers or in my friend Sarah’s case, create works of art. Sarah uses her creative energy to produce original pieces of jewelry. I love the above set of earrings! They are so perfect for fall. Please check out her site Loops Designs on etsy. Rejoice in the friendships made throughout your life. I feel so blessed to have made so many wonderful friends in my 40 years. Each one has brought different gifts and fulfilled different needs. As girlfriends we offer support, encouragement, knowledge, ideas, laughter. We get together to watch a movie, drink wine, go for a hike or just talk. Friends are the balance in our lives without which we would sink.

Make time to share moments with friends. They are gifts that you will treasure forever.

Beware: Chemicals

Just because a product smells good, doesn’t mean it’s good for you to smell.

Many products that have been available for us to buy and use in our homes are creating a toxic enviroment. The old attage “buyer beware” has taken on a whole new meaning. Get back to the basics. Vinegar, baking soda, salt, castille soap are among the few products that are inexpensive and not harmful. You may be thinking, it’s just easier to buy one of these “versatile” products, open the bottle and clean everything in site. It really isn’t. Most of the products I’ve listed are already in your kitchen. If you don’t have Castille soap, you should. It’s been around for generations. It’s easy on the environment and your skin. I buy mine at Trader Joe’s.

There are also some great new green products on the market. Seventh Generation, Method, Mrs. Meyers, Holy Cow, to name a few. You do need to be aware of companies touting the “green” label. Companies are making millions on us.

Green Cleaning

I believe in using cleaning products that have little to no toxic effects. I am constantly trying to find new ways to clean safely and effectively. I recently found a great way to kill mold and mildew. The following is a list of ingriedents and directions:

Recipe for routine pine cleaner to prevent mold:
* 1/4 cup distilled water
* 1/4 cup white vinegar
* 10 drops pine oil
* 2 drops dishwashing soap or castille soap

Mix ingriedents in a spray bottle. Pine oil can be found at natural food stores or online.

Today is my first adventure in blogging. I’m not sure where this journey will lead me. My hope is that it provides me with a means to share ideas, stories and whatever else comes to mind. I also want to gain a wide array of knowledge.
